Siberian Selection: «Chaya» Blackcurrant

The «Chaya» blackcurrant variety, developed by the experts at OGUP 'Bakcharskoye', stands as a prime example of breeding aimed at high resilience and adaptability. Created by breeders Valentina Kobyakova and Nadezhda Savinkova, this variety is well-regarded for its ability to thrive in challenging environments while maintaining consistent productivity.

Agronomic Profile

The core strength of the «Chaya» variety lies in its robust winter hardiness. It was specifically engineered to withstand significant temperature fluctuations, a hallmark of its Siberian origin. This makes it an ideal selection for growers seeking a predictable and low-maintenance crop. The bushes exhibit moderate spreading, which simplifies orchard management and facilitates easy harvesting.

Market Reputation and Utility

In the horticultural market, the «Chaya» variety is recognized as a dependable, "workhorse" selection. Unlike more delicate modern cultivars, it does not require complex agrotechnical procedures. Key benefits include:

• Stable yields even in unpredictable climate conditions.
• Strong resistance to common blackcurrant pathogens, reducing the need for aggressive pest management.
• Excellent flavor profile, making the berries suitable for both fresh consumption and various forms of processing, including freezing and preserves.

Choosing «Chaya» means opting for proven genetics. The team at OGUP 'Bakcharskoye' has spent decades refining varieties that prioritize reliability and yield, and «Chaya» remains a testament to their dedication to producing hardy, productive plants that deliver consistently for both hobbyist gardeners and commercial growers alike.
