Currant Poltava 584

High-Yield Blackcurrant Selection from NUBiP of Ukraine

The «Poltava 584» variety, developed by NUBiP of Ukraine, is a top choice for both commercial growers and amateur gardeners looking for a balance between high output and low maintenance. Unlike many international varieties that may struggle with local climate shifts, this blackcurrant excels in Ukrainian soil and weather conditions.

Key Benefits

• Exceptional Productivity: A mature bush yields between 5 to 7 kg of premium berries, ensuring high profitability for commercial orchards.
• Berry Quality: Large, black berries measuring 2.6–3.5 cm in diameter feature firm skins, which improves shelf life and makes them easy to transport without damage.
• Strong Disease Resistance: The variety is genetically resistant to anthracnose, septoria, and powdery mildew. This reduces the need for frequent chemical spraying, lowering production costs.

Why choose Poltava 584?

Poltava 584 is the ideal solution for those who want a robust crop with minimal disease pressure. Its resistance to powdery mildew ensures the foliage stays healthy throughout the season, supporting optimal plant development for the following year. While the variety is naturally hardy, consistent watering and mulching are recommended to maximize berry size and overall health. Compared to other varieties in its class, Poltava 584 stands out due to its reliability and adaptability, proving that local selection can effectively compete with top European cultivars.
