Currant Nadbużanska

A Reliable Choice for Commercial Berry Farming

The 'Nadbuzhanska' blackcurrant variety, developed by the Lviv Research Station of the Institute of Horticulture of the UAAS, has established itself in professional horticulture as a robust tool for risk management. In today's volatile climate, farmers select this variety to achieve predictable yields without the burden of excessive fungicide treatments.

Agronomic Advantages in the Field

• Field Immunity. The 'Nadbuzhanska' genotype possesses natural resistance to anthracnose and powdery mildew. For agronomists, this translates into a reduced chemical load, which is essential for meeting modern environmental safety standards and reducing production costs.
• Resistance to Stolbur. The variety's inherent resistance to stolbur provides a significant advantage in regions where insect-borne viral diseases pose a constant threat to plantation longevity.
• Optimized Harvesting. The berries grow in clusters that are well-adapted for both manual and mechanized harvesting. The fruit skin is firm, ensuring high transportability and minimal post-harvest losses, which is critical for maintaining marketability during long-distance delivery.

Operational Scenarios in the Farm

Integrating 'Nadbuzhanska' into a berry production cycle is a strategic move for farms targeting both the fresh market and the processing/freezing industry. Because the variety is undemanding regarding specific soil conditions, it allows farmers to utilize varying field topographies without costly land reclamation efforts. The uniform ripening process simplifies the harvest timeline, allowing for more efficient management of labor and machinery. For commercial operations, this variety ensures a consistent output of high-quality fruit, significantly reducing 'culls' and supply chain waste.
