The Zozulenok cucumber variety is an early-maturing hybrid with a period from germination to fruiting of 43-48 days. It is intended for cultivation both in open ground and under temporary film coverings. The plants are exclusively female-flowering, which contributes to high yield and uniform fruiting. This hybrid is cold-resistant, allowing successful cultivation under various climatic conditions.
The fruits of the Zozulenok cucumber have a spindle-shaped form, 16-22 cm long and 3.5-4.0 cm in diameter, with a bumpy surface and white spines. The weight of one fruit reaches 160-200 g. The cucumbers are dark green, free of bitterness, with excellent taste and high commercial qualities. They are ideal for fresh consumption, pickling, canning, and preparation of lightly salted cucumbers. Thanks to good transportability, the fruits retain their qualities during transportation.
For successful cultivation of Zozulenok, warm, moist, and fertile soil is required. Seeds are sown when soil temperature reaches 10-12 °C, with an optimal germination temperature of 25-30 °C. The seeding rate is 0.2-0.5 g per square meter, with seed depth of 3-4 cm. The crop responds well to the application of organic and mineral fertilizers, which contributes to increased yield, reaching 15-16 kg per square meter.
