Early-maturing, long-fruited cucumber hybrid for early market produce
Kostik F1 — Early-maturing, bee-pollinated hybrid with partial parthenocarpy and female-type flowering. Period from mass germination to beginning of fruiting 48-52 days. The early hybrid Kostik F1's cucumber fruit is elongated-cylindrical, dark green, ribbed, 17-20 cm long, and free of bitterness. The genetically determined absence of bitterness in the fruits of the early hybrid Kostik F1 allows for full harvest even under water deficit. Early maturation and the ability to set fruit without bee pollination enable early harvest of greenhouse cucumbers of the Kostik F1 hybrid for fresh market. Prices for fresh cucumber are high during this period. The early-maturing cucumber hybrid Kostik F1 is resistant to olive spot and bacterial wilt. Cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for canning. We recommend growing the early cucumber hybrid Kostik F1 both in plastic greenhouses and in open ground. Seeds can be sown directly into the final location or sown into trays and pots. When grown as a seedling, the Kostik F1 hybrid will yield the first harvest 8-12 days earlier. Yield in greenhouses — 15-25 kg/m2.
