Zodiac 499 F1 cucumber is a mid-season hybrid developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing, intended for cultivation in protected ground during spring-summer. The plants are indeterminate type with predominantly female flowering, strong leafiness, and powerful root system, contributing to high fruit set and resistance to stress conditions. The hybrid features an open and compact plant form, facilitating harvest collection.

The fruits of Zodiac 499 cucumber have cylindrical or oval-cylindrical shape, 12.9 to 13.7 cm long and 101 to 139 g in weight. The fruits are large-ridged, dark green with streaked patterns extending to half the fruit length. Cross-sectionally, the fruit is round-triangular with a small cavity. Flavor quality is good to excellent, making the hybrid suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and pickling.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to powdery mildew and tolerance to a range of diseases, including false powdery mildew, angular bacterial spot, anthracnose, cladosporeiosis, and cucumber mosaic virus. The fruits have excellent transportability and storability, ensuring fruit preservation during transport and storage. Zodiac 499 F1 is recommended for cultivation in various regions and suitable for both commercial production and personal use.
