Description Maestro
The cucumber MAESTRO is an early parthenocarpic hybrid with a female flower type, characterized by high early maturity and resistance to major diseases such as cucumber mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, and powdery mildew. The vegetation period ranges from 36 to 50 days, allowing for early harvest. The plant is indeterminate with weak branching, simplifying care and harvesting. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in plastic greenhouses, and is recommended for cooler regions when grown using seedling methods. The MAESTRO cucumber fruits have a cylindrical or oval-cylindrical shape, measuring 8–12 cm in length and weighing 80–110 grams. The fruits are often large, bumpy, green with faint, blurred stripes near the base. The flesh is dense and crisp, making this variety versatile for various uses: fresh consumption, pickling, fermenting, canning, and processing. The fruit forms in clusters, with 2–4 fruits developing in leaf axils, contributing to high yields of up to 14–16 kg per square meter. For successful cultivation of the MAESTRO cucumber, specific agronomic practices are recommended. When grown from seedlings, seeds are sown into prepared soil mix at a depth of 1.5 cm at air and soil temperatures of 20–23°C. It is important to maintain even soil moisture without overwatering or acidification, and to prevent temperatures from dropping below 14°C after germination. During growth, 1–2 feedings with complete mineral fertilizer, nitrogen-rich, are applied. Seedlings are transplanted after the threat of frost has passed, ensuring optimal conditions for growth and fruiting.
