Claudine cucumber is an early, high-yielding parthenocarpic hybrid suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under temporary film coverings. This variety features a medium-height, indeterminate growth habit with moderate branching, facilitating easy care and harvesting. The plant is robust and sufficiently open, allowing for multiple manual harvests without damaging the vegetative mass. Claudine can be grown vertically or horizontally, following a planting scheme of 70x30 cm.
The fruits of the Claudine cucumber are cylindrical, 8-10 cm long, and weigh approximately 85 grams. They are dark green with a dense, finely warty surface and white spines. The skin is tender, while the flesh is firm, juicy, crisp, and flavorful without bitterness. Thanks to its small seed cavity, the fruit retains its taste even after processing, making this variety ideal for fresh consumption, pickling, and canning.
The Claudine hybrid exhibits high resistance to major cucumber diseases, including cladosporiosis, cucumber mosaic virus, and powdery mildew. It does not require pollination by bees, simplifying fruiting, which occurs 35-45 days after germination. For successful cultivation, sow seeds in March-May at a depth of 2-3 cm without pre-soaking, then cover with plastic film. Crop care includes regular weeding, loosening, watering with warm water at the root after sunset, and 2-3 feedings during the vegetative period.
