HEDGEHOG

Hedgehog F1 - an early-maturing cucumber hybrid developed by Ukrainian breeders, characterized by high yield and resistance to a range of diseases including downy mildew, cucumber mosaic virus, and root rot. The vegetative period until technical maturity is 40–43 days, allowing for early harvest. The plant is compact, with medium branching and predominantly female flowering, promoting abundant fruit formation at nodes. The root system is well-developed, and the hybrid is resistant to temperature fluctuations and moisture changes, making it suitable for cultivation both in open and protected soil.

The fruits of the Hedgehog cucumber are cylindrical, 7–9 cm long, and weigh 70–90 g. They feature a dark green skin with a thin layer and moderate pubescence, covered with black spines and small bumps. The cornichons do not overgrow or yellow, have crisp and juicy flesh without cavities or bitterness, making them ideal for fresh consumption, pickling, and preservation. The taste and aroma of the fruits are excellent, enhancing their appeal to consumers.

The Hedgehog hybrid is easy to maintain and suitable for cultivation on small plots. Seeds are recommended to be sown in March–April, requiring moderate soil moisture.
