Crested Wheatgrass NENAROKOVSKIY

Soil Erosion Control and Reliable Forage Production

The crested wheatgrass variety "Nenarokovsky," developed by the V.R. Williams All-Russian Fodder Research Institute, is a specialized selection designed for steppe and forest-steppe environments. It serves two critical functions: protecting vulnerable landscapes from erosion and providing a consistent supply of quality forage for livestock.

Practical Scenarios for Farmers

• Erosion Control and Land Reclamation: With a robust and extensive root system, this variety is an essential tool for stabilizing slopes, ravines, and areas prone to wind or water erosion. It creates a dense sod that anchors the topsoil, effectively preventing degradation and helping to restore soil health in challenging locations.
• Establishing Long-Term Hayfields: This variety is prized for its longevity. Under proper management, it maintains high productivity for 8–10 years. This significantly reduces operational costs for farmers by eliminating the need for frequent tillage and re-seeding cycles.
• High-Yield Forage Harvesting: "Nenarokovsky" demonstrates excellent regrowth potential after mowing. This ensures stable yields of high-quality hay or haylage, even during drought years when other forage grasses typically show a sharp decline in productivity.

For agricultural enterprises focusing on sustainable resource management, "Nenarokovsky" offers high ecological plasticity. It thrives on poor soils that would otherwise be unprofitable for cereal production. By choosing this variety, farmers can optimize land use, improve soil structure, and maintain a steady forage supply without the high costs of intensive fertilizer application. It is a strategic choice for those aiming for durability and cost-efficiency in their agricultural operations.
