Stable yields for diverse conditions

When selecting seeds for grain production, the Syngenta СИ Вестас (SI Vestas) hybrid proved to be a highly reliable solution for our farm. This simple hybrid with dent-type grain has established itself as an extremely predictable crop that performs well even under significant disease pressure.

Phytosanitary resistance and plant health

A major concern for any agronomist is disease. Under intensive farming conditions, SI Vestas demonstrates impressive immunity. We have repeatedly observed its resilience against helminthosporiosis and various rots, where other hybrids might fail. It is particularly noteworthy for its resistance to stalk rot and boil smut. The plants remain strong and upright until harvest, which is critical if harvest windows are delayed due to weather.

Agrotechnological profile

The hybrid shows great flexibility regarding plant density. We employ different approaches depending on field moisture levels:

• 40,000–50,000 plants/ha — for moisture-deficient areas;
• 55,000–70,000 plants/ha — the standard optimum for most of our fields;
• 75,000–80,000 plants/ha — for well-irrigated or highly fertile soils.

A starch content of 72% makes this hybrid an economically viable option, especially considering its versatility. With an FAO range of 90–1240, it allows us to adapt seeding plans to specific climatic zones effectively.

Field performance

Working with Syngenta genetics is always straightforward — germination is uniform, and early-stage growth is vigorous. SI Vestas follows standard mineral nutrition requirements without presenting any unexpected issues.
