Maize Radius

Corn hybrid 'Radius' is an ultra-early super-sweet sugar corn variety with a vegetation period of only 68 days from emergence. Plants reach a height of up to 198 cm and form an average of 1.3 full ears, 22-24 cm long and about 5.2 cm in diameter. Kernels are large, bright yellow, juicy, arranged in 14-16 rows, ensuring high taste quality and attractive market appearance. Ear attachment height is approximately 50 cm. The hybrid is characterized by a strong root system, disease resistance, and tolerance to temperature stress, as well as good storability and transportability, making it an optimal choice for early harvest and use both fresh and for processing. For successful cultivation of 'Radius' corn, soil characteristics and agronomic practices must be considered. The crop prefers deep plowing and neutral or slightly alkaline soils with pH from 6.0 to 7.0, poorly grows on acidic, waterlogged, and saline soils. A key condition is ensuring adequate mineral nutrition, especially during two critical growth stages — when forming 3-5 and 7-8 leaves. At the initial growth stage, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, and boron are required to develop a strong root system and form ears. Nitrogen plays a key role from the 6th leaf stage until panicle emergence, while potassium contributes to plant stability against lodging and development of high-quality kernels. Nutrient deficiencies negatively affect growth, leaf coloration, and yield formation, so timely fertilization, considering soil type and preceding crops, is essential. 'Radius' corn is highly drought-tolerant due to rapid water uptake from the soil, enabling it to successfully withstand periods of water deficit. When cultivating and exporting kernels, international quality standards such as DSTU 4526:2006, European Union requirements, and USDA standards are considered, guaranteeing compliance with high physicochemical parameters and market demand. Thus, the 'Radius' hybrid combines early maturity, high kernel quality, and adaptability to various growing conditions, making it a profitable and reliable choice for farmers.
