Description

KOEÑIKS — a mid-early three-line hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) with a vegetative period of approximately 103-115 days, making it suitable for various climatic conditions. The plant is characterized by moderate height and resistance to lodging, with moderately wide curved leaves and a slightly conical long ear with a short pedicel. The grain has an intermediate type, closer to silken, with yellow-orange coloring on the upper part and a toothed shape, contributing to high-quality harvest. Anthocyanin coloring is evident in strong root and tassel coloring, as well as moderate silk coloring, which is a distinctive feature of the hybrid.

The hybrid demonstrates high yield potential: in the Central Chernozem region, average yield reaches 78.9 c/ha, which is 15.6% higher than the standard, and maximum grain yield reached 103.9 c/ha. In the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions, yield is around 56 c/ha. Grain moisture at harvest is at 26.7%, which is lower than standard levels, facilitating storage and processing. KOEÑIKS has good resistance to smut and ear rot, moderate resistance to bacterial and Fusarium ear diseases, but is susceptible to severe damage by stem borer.

The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Chernozem, North Caucasus, and Lower Volga regions, and is suitable for areas with steppe and forest-steppe zones. It is distinguished by cold and drought resistance, allowing successful cultivation across different planting dates — from early to late optimal. Recommended planting density depends on soil moisture level, enabling adaptation of agronomic practices to specific conditions and maximizing yield.
