Description SI UNITOP
SI UNITOP — a mid-early maize hybrid developed by Syngenta (Netherlands) with FAO number 240. This hybrid belongs to the Stay Green type, which ensures prolonged retention of green plant mass and promotes high water yield. The plant is tall with wide, straight leaves and medium anthocyanin pigmentation of roots and tassels. The grain is cream-colored with a tooth-like shape and an orange upper part, indicating high quality and starch content, reaching 73.8%. The ear is cylindrical, medium in length and thickness, with a moderate number of rows of kernels. The hybrid has medium drought and frost resistance, allowing cultivation under various climatic conditions. SI UNITOP stands out for its high, stable yield and good adaptation to intensive cultivation technologies. Average grain yield in the Central Chernozem region reaches 84.2 c/ha, which is 21.5% higher than the standard, and in the Ural region — 12.1 c/ha, which is 15.2% higher than standard indicators. The hybrid is resistant to common smut and shows tolerance to major diseases, including stalk rot, but is sensitive to stalk rot. High rates of sulfonylurea-based herbicides should be avoided to prevent reduced plant productivity. To achieve maximum productivity, SI UNITOP is recommended to be sown early with optimal seeding density: 60-70 thousand plants per hectare in the forest-steppe zone and 75-85 thousand in the Polissya zone. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation on various soil types and both conventional and minimum tillage technologies. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, SI UNITOP is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality and high-yield maize crops.
