Description LUDICKS
LUDICKS — this is an early-maturing, simple hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.), intended for grain production. It is included in the State Register for the North Caucasus region and registered in 2011. The plant is characterized by medium height and medium-width leaves, and the ear has medium or long length, cylindrical shape, and thick stalk. Grain is intermediate type, closer to silken, with yellow-orange coloration in the upper part.

The hybrid LUDICKS is distinguished by good yield: average grain yield in the region is 43.4 c/ha, which is 15.7% higher than the standard, and maximum yield reached 81.9 c/ha. The vegetation period is about 103 days, slightly exceeding standard indicators. Grain moisture at harvest is 20.9%, which is 1.9% lower than in standard varieties, facilitating harvesting and storage.

In terms of disease resistance, LUDICKS shows resistance to southern helminthiosis and is slightly affected by powdery mildew. However, it is susceptible to bacterial and Fusarium ear diseases at levels above average, and is severely damaged by corn borer. These characteristics should be considered when planning crop protection. The hybrid is suitable for grain cultivation and is recommended for growing in the North Caucasus region.
