Corn DN Horticia is a mid-early hybrid with FAO 240, developed by the Institute of Grain Crops NAAN of Ukraine. This hybrid is characterized by high yield, reaching 12 t/ha (132 c/ha), and intensive drying capacity, which ensures low grain moisture at harvest. Plants are tall, 230-240 cm in height, with cylindrical ears 21-23 cm long and 14-16 rows of kernels. Kernels are dent-shaped, light yellow-orange in color, with 1000 kernel weight of 260-270 g, and grain yield of 83-84%.
The Horticia hybrid has high cold resistance and resistance to major diseases and pests, contributing to stable yields under various climatic conditions. It tolerates low temperatures well and is resistant to lodging, but has moderate drought and heat tolerance, especially sensitive to elevated air temperatures during the late stages of vegetation. Thanks to intensive drying capacity, the corn loses moisture rapidly during ripening, facilitating harvest and reducing losses.
Recommended for grain production in Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polesie regions with varying planting densities: 55-60 thousand plants per hectare in Steppe, up to 90-100 thousand in Polesie. Seed treatment is performed with the fungicide Inshur Perform. The hybrid responds well to improved growing conditions, allowing maximum realization of its yield and grain quality potential.
