Maize Biggy

Focus on Expansion Rate

Transitioning to specialized popcorn corn requires a different approach to processing. The French genetics behind Mas Seeds 'Biggi' focus specifically on the stability and expansion volume of the grain. In the field, this hybrid demands strict adherence to harvest timelines; capturing the optimal moisture level is critical to ensure the kernel retains its explosive potential during storage.

Operational Insights

• Uniformity: The hybrid shows excellent early vigor, which simplifies subsequent field maintenance and weed management.
• Harvesting: It is essential to minimize mechanical damage during threshing. Because the pericarp is specific, improper combine settings will result in lower marketability.
• Logistics and Storage: The grain is sensitive to moisture levels. Unlike standard fodder corn, 'Biggi' requires professional storage conditions, as the expansion coefficient upon heating is directly linked to precise moisture control.

This hybrid is intended for producers aiming at the premium processing market. Investments in high-quality drying equipment pay off through a superior yield of the final product. When following Mas Seeds' guidelines, 'Biggi' delivers predictable performance with a minimal percentage of unpopped kernels.
