Corn hybrid 249 IR is a medium-late grain feed hybrid with an intermediate kernel type, close to dent. The plant is tall with wide leaves and a thin, conical ear of medium length and thickness. A distinctive feature is strong anthocyanin coloring of the silk and ear stalk, as well as weak or absent coloring of the first leaf sheath. The kernels have a two-tone coloration: upper part yellow, lower part white. The ear stalk is short, with a medium number of rows, ensuring good density and quality of the harvest.

The hybrid has high heat and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones. The plant reaches a height of 228–240 cm and exhibits high resistance to lodging. Kernel yield per ear is 83.2%, with a 1000-kernel weight of 249 g. Corn responds well to fertilizer application and demonstrates resistance to diseases such as common rust, stalk rot, and helminthosporium, contributing to stable yields and reduced losses during storage.

Corn seeds 249 IR are intended for grain production and are suitable for farmers using both intensive and less intensive cultivation technologies. When properly matched to FAO classification and agronomic practices are followed, yields can range from 7 to 15 tons per hectare at grain moisture content of 23–27%. The hybrid is recommended for regions with moderate climates and exhibits good moisture release, facilitating harvest and storage.
