Description DD 208
DD 208 is a medium-early, two-row hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) intended for universal use, including grain and silage production. The plant is low-growing, reaching 230–250 cm in height, with a cylindrical, medium-length ear and medium-colored stalk. The main ear axis is positioned above the upper lateral branch, forming a medium angle with the lateral branches, which are slightly curved and have a medium number. The grain is yellow, intermediate type, with a 1000-grain mass of about 230 g. Anthocyanin-colored silk is present, which is a characteristic feature of the hybrid. The hybrid is distinguished by high yield and good grain quality, making it in demand in animal husbandry for feed and food production. In the Central Chernozem region, the average grain yield is about 48 centners per hectare, and the yield of normalized dry matter reaches 87.6 centners per hectare. The grain rapidly loses moisture during ripening, facilitating harvest and storage. DD 208 exhibits resistance to southern helminthosporium and moderate resistance to stalk rot and smut. However, the hybrid is susceptible to ear bacterial disease and fusarium, and is moderately damaged by stalk borer. These characteristics require careful agronomic practices to ensure maximum productivity and plant health.
