Description PRIMORSKIY 14
PRIMORSKIY 14 is a species of red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) belonging to the legume group of grasses and registered in 1976. The culture is biennial and diploid, which determines the features of its biological development and reproduction. The variety is intended for cultivation in the north-eastern regions of Russia, including the Primorsky Krai, Kamchatka Krai, Magadan Oblast, Sakhalin Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The originators of the variety are scientific institutions specializing in agro-biotechnology of the Far East. Morphologically, PRIMORSKIY 14 is characterized by an average number of internodes from 3 to 9, usually 5-6, weakly pubescent leaves on the upper side, and large loose inflorescences of bright pink color, which are often doubled. White heads are sometimes found in crops. The seeds of the variety have yellow and purple colors, the mass of 1000 seeds is about 2.1 grams, and the level of seed hardness is 4.5%. These characteristics affect the quality of seed material and germination. In terms of winter hardiness, the PRIMORSKIY 14 variety is comparable with the reference variety Primorsky 28 in Primorsky Krai, but in the Amur Oblast, it lags behind the Amursky 11 variety by 1.8 points. The variety has a high susceptibility to powdery mildew, which should be taken into account when choosing protection and care methods. Due to its adaptive properties and morphological features, PRIMORSKIY 14 is suitable for use in fodder production and improving soil fertility in the indicated regions.
