Red clover variety Nosovsky 4 is an early-maturing, two-cut variety developed by the Chernihiv Regional Agricultural Experimental Station. Plants have a cup-shaped form, semi-erect, with stem heights ranging from 40 to 85 cm. Stems are slender, tender, and weakly hairy, while the plants are highly bushy with above-average leafiness, ensuring good leaf development. Leaves are large, egg-shaped, and inflorescences are spherical heads with pale-pink flowers. The vegetation period from the beginning of spring growth to the first cut is 55–61 days, and from the first to the second cut — 39–45 days, with uniform regrowth after cuts and in spring. The variety has high dry matter yield — up to 8.29 t/ha at Staro-Sindrovskoy GCU and 7.54 t/ha at Kovylkinsky, with seed yield reaching 150 kg/ha. The variety’s winter hardiness is above average at 96.2%, enabling successful cultivation in various climatic conditions of the Volga region. The clover is moderately resistant to rust and weakly affected by anthracnose, contributing to plant health and stable yields. Protein content in the plant varies from 16.5 to 21.0%, and fiber content — from 27.7 to 29.5%, making it a valuable forage crop. Nosovsky 4 is widely used in agriculture, including for creating lawns and other agronomic purposes. The variety is included in the State Register of Selection Achievements of Russia since 2013 and is recommended for cultivation in the Volga region. The variety was developed at the Nosovskaya Selection and Research Station, one of the oldest scientific organizations specializing in selection and agronomy. The station has extensive experience developing over 80 varieties of agricultural crops, confirming the high quality and reliability of the Nosovsky 4 variety.
