Clover Prekarpathian 33 is a perennial meadow clover variety developed at the Institute of Agriculture and Selection of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus through hybridization of the local early-maturing variety Slutskiy Rannespelyy with Prekarpathian 33. It belongs to the heliophytic group of plants, requiring sufficient light, water, and nutrients. This variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for agricultural production. During the vegetation period, clover forms three cuttings, enabling significant yields of green and dry mass.
The green mass yield of this variety reaches up to 75 tons per hectare, while the dry mass yield over three cuttings ranges from 11 to 14 tons per hectare. Seeds mature primarily in mid-August, providing a seed yield of 250-450 kg per hectare. The crude protein content at early cutting stage is 16-19% on a dry matter basis, making this variety a valuable component of forage grass mixtures. Clover Prekarpathian 33 tolerates short dry periods, enhancing its resilience and productivity under various climatic conditions.
Meadow clover, to which variety Prekarpathian 33 belongs, is not only a forage but also a medicinal plant. It exhibits diuretic, sudorific, cholagogue, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, hemostatic, and astringent properties. However, its use should consider contraindications such as varicose veins, thrombophlebitis, estrogen-dependent forms of cancer, diarrhea, individual intolerance, and pregnancy. Due to its agronomic and biological properties, Clover Prekarpathian 33 is widely used in clover-grass mixtures, contributing to increased productivity and resilience of the forage base.
