Chrysanthemum Enigma

Technical Profile of the Chrysanthemum 'Enigma'

This breeding product from the State Institution 'Institute of Evolutionary Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine' is a bushy variety with clearly defined adaptive characteristics. The cultivar is engineered for temperate climates, focusing on stable bush architecture and an early phenological cycle.

Morphological Parameters and Flowering Physiology

The key feature of 'Enigma' is its precise habitus. With a plant height ranging from 30–60 cm, it serves as an ideal middle tier in landscape compositions without the need for additional support. The 5–10 cm flower diameter strikes a balance between planting density and the visual impact of each individual bloom.

• Lifecycle: Early flowering in September is critical for regions with shorter warm seasons, allowing the plant to form fully developed generative organs before consistent freezing temperatures occur.
• Coloration: A clean pink hue is achieved through intensive anthocyanin accumulation, providing high decorative value during the autumn season.
• Winter Hardiness: Genetically programmed resilience allows the cultivar to withstand wintering in open ground, reducing the labor and resources required for winter coverage or annual rhizome lifting.

Landscape Application

Due to its medium height and compact bush structure, this cultivar is perfectly suited for border plantings, mass displays, or accent groups in small to medium-sized gardens. 'Enigma' demonstrates high plasticity across various soil types, provided that basic drainage conditions are met. This achievement in Ukrainian selection serves the need for frost-resistant, aesthetically stable crops capable of maintaining garden architecture deep into the autumn.
