Chrysanthemum Carmelita

Technical Profile of the 'Karmelita' Chrysanthemum

Developed by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, 'Karmelita' is a high-growing decorative cultivar engineered for professional floriculture. Its technical value lies in the synergy between a late vegetation cycle and high bloom density, making it a critical asset for the November cut-flower market.

Morphological Parameters and Plant Architecture

• Height and Stem: Classified as high-growing (60+ cm), it produces a robust, elongated flower stalk essential for commercial logistics and extended vase life.
• Inflorescence: Features a spherical shape with blooms exceeding 10 cm in diameter. The high petal density ensures superior transportability and resistance to mechanical stress.
• Coloration: The deep violet hue is maintained by stable anthocyanin concentrations, which persist even under the cooler temperatures of November.

Agrotechnical Requirements

To achieve its full genetic potential, this variety must be cultivated in full sun. Light exposure is the primary limiting factor for bud formation: insufficient sunlight during the autumn period risks inflorescence deformation and reduced pigment saturation. Due to its late-blooming specialization, 'Karmelita' requires strict humidity control during the budding phase to prevent botrytis, a common challenge in late-season crops. This is an optimal choice for producers seeking a high-quality local variety with predictable cut-flower performance.
