Notka is a hybrid variety combining the best qualities of cherry and plum, also known as duke. It is characterized by large dark burgundy fruits weighing up to 7 grams, with juicy, tender flesh and a dessert-like flavor reminiscent of plum without cherry acidity, yet with a distinctive plum aroma. Fruits ripen at the end of June to the beginning of July, depending on climatic conditions and region. The tree has a broad pyramidal crown, reaching up to 3.5 meters in height, with smooth, straight branches. Flowering occurs in mid-May to early June, with large white flowers arranged in clusters of 6-8.
The variety exhibits high cold tolerance and resistance to fungal diseases, capable of withstanding temperatures down to -30°C, making it suitable for various climatic conditions. However, young saplings require winter protection. Notka is characterized by stable fruiting from the 3rd to 4th year, with an average yield of 10-12 kg, reaching up to 20 kg per tree by the 12th year. The variety is weakly self-fertile, so for successful pollination, it is recommended to plant pollinator varieties such as Nord Star.
Notka saplings typically have an open root system and are grafted onto seedling rootstocks of magolebka or antipki. They easily withstand pruning and care, simplifying cultivation and maintaining tree health. Due to its combination of high yield, excellent taste, and resistance to adverse conditions, Notka is an attractive choice for gardeners seeking large, delicious cherry and plum fruits.
