Cherry variety 'Czar' is the result of selection by the Institute of Irrigation Horticulture and obtained by crossing the varieties 'Valeriy Chkalov' and 'Droghana Yellow'. This Ukrainian variety is distinguished by its early ripening period, harvest occurring in early June, allowing for fruit collection already at the end of spring — beginning of summer. The tree is medium-sized with a rounded-oval or pyramidal crown of moderate density, which ensures ease of care and harvesting. Leaves have a classic oval shape with serrated edges.
The 'Czar' cherry fruits are large, weighing from 10 to 15 grams, with a dark red, almost black color when fully ripe. The berries have a slightly elongated round shape, dense and crunchy flesh, and a sweet, juicy flavor. Due to its high commercial value and good transportability, this variety is popular among gardeners and consumers.
The variety is characterized by high frost resistance, disease resistance in fruit trees, and excellent drought tolerance. 'Czar' cherry begins fruiting in the fourth year after planting, with yield steadily increasing each year. For ensuring high and stable yield, it is recommended to plant pollinator varieties nearby. Grafting on a Colt rootstock promotes early and abundant fruiting.
