Sputnitsa

Sputnitsa cherry is a hybrid of cherry and plum, characterized by a medium-sized tree with a vertically oriented and moderately dense crown. The variety begins to bear fruit as early as the 3rd-4th year after planting, indicating its early fruiting. The average yield per tree reaches about 30 kg of berries per season, making this variety attractive to gardeners seeking a stable and abundant harvest.

The fruits of Sputnitsa have dark red skin and dark orange flesh, are medium in density and tender. The weight of the berries ranges from 5.5 to 7 grams, sometimes up to 8 grams. The taste of the berries is very sweet with distinctive chocolate notes, giving them a dessert-like quality and high sensory evaluation. The stone is small and easily separates, facilitating consumption and culinary use.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to stressful weather conditions, diseases, pests, and cold tolerance, allowing it to be grown in various climatic zones. The fruits ripen in mid-June, sometimes at the beginning of July, placing Sputnitsa in the medium ripening period. For successful pollination, early plum varieties are recommended. The versatility of the berries allows them to be used both for fresh consumption and processing.
