Cherry variety Prestige (Success) is the result of crossing varieties Valeriy Chkalov and Napoleon. The tree is medium to tall, reaching 3-5 meters in height, with a rounded, slightly compact crown and straight, stiff branches. Shoots are thick and brown, indicating good growth vigor. Fruit set occurs on flower clusters and one-year-old growth. Flowering begins at the end of April, and harvest maturity occurs at the end of June, approximately from the 20th to 22nd. The variety is self-sterile, and for pollination, varieties Cosmic and Melitopolskaya Black are recommended.
Prestige cherry fruits are large, weighing 8 to 15 grams, with dimensions of about 29x25x23 mm. The fruit shape is flat-conical or broad-heart-shaped, with a shallow depression. The skin is a deep, saturated red color, dense and crisp. The flesh is dark red, juicy, with a pleasant sweet taste and a slight refreshing acidity. Dry matter content in the fruits is about 16.3%, sugars — 11.5%, acids — 0.6%. The stone is large, round, and free, and the peduncle is thick and easily detaches from the branch, facilitating harvest.
The variety is highly resistant to diseases, particularly moniliosis and bacterial canker of stone fruits, and has good cold tolerance. However, winter hardiness is considered moderate, with possible frost damage to flower buds in harsh winters. Yield is high; the average yield over the first seven years of fruiting reaches 48 kg per tree. Prestige cherry is versatile in use and suitable for fresh consumption due to its excellent taste and attractive fruit appearance.
