Introduced by T.V. Morozov at the I.V. Michurin Institute of Horticulture from seed of Vladimirskaya cherry, treated at the germination stage with the chemical mutagen EI at a concentration of 0.025%. Under state variety trials since 1988.
Medium-sized tree with a broadly rounded, slightly raised crown of medium density. Fruit set primarily on cluster branches. Bark on the trunk and scaffold branches is light brown. Shoots are large, gray-green, with a moderate number of buds. Buds are egg-shaped, moderately deviated from the shoot. Leaves are medium-sized, narrowly oval, with double-toothed margins, smooth surface, green with gloss, without pubescence. Leaf petioles are long, medium thickness, with anthocyanin coloration along the entire length. There are 1-2 small dark red glands at the base of the leaf blade. Flowers are large, white, horn-shaped. Petal shape is round. Flowering period is medium. Stigma is higher than the stamens.
Fruits are large (mass 4.8-5.1 g), round, with a rounded apex, with a depression at the base, with a small, barely noticeable ventral seam. Pedicel is long, with weak attachment to the stone. Fruits are dark red, without surface dots. Stone is medium, oblong, separates well from the flesh. Fruit flesh is dark red, with dark red juice, dense, juicy. Flavor character — dessert-like, with high sweetness and lower-than-average acidity. Chemical composition: sugars — 10.5%, acids — 1.37%, ascorbic acid — 30 mg/100g. Universal variety with high fruit technological qualities. Good transportability.
Fruit ripening period in Michurinsk — second decade of July. Early fruiting — begins fruiting on 3-4th year. At 3 years old, yields 200 g per bush. Yield is regular, 50-60 centners/ha under Michurinsk conditions. Suitable for mechanical shaking. Best pollinators: Michurinsk Grio, Lebedyanskaya, Zhukovskaya.
Tree is highly winter-hardy, drought-tolerant, with high field resistance to coccomyces (in epidemic years no more than 2 points). Propagation by budding and green cuttings. Rootstock — seedlings of cultivated varieties, clonal rootstocks of Vladimirskaya. Rooting rate by green cuttings up to 70%. Pruning similar to Zhukovskaya variety.
Advantages of the variety: high wood winter hardiness, high resistance to coccomyces, medium growth habit, high fruit flavor qualities, medium ripening period.
Disadvantages: insufficient winter hardiness of flower buds in northern areas of the Chernozem region.
