Cherry variety Debut is a medium-early Ukrainian selection, characterized by early fruiting and high yield. The tree begins to bear fruit in the fourth year after planting, and the maximum yield of a 10-12-year-old tree reaches 60-62 kg. Fruits ripen from June 10 to June 20, making this variety one of the earliest among cherries. Debut belongs to dessert varieties, confirmed by its high tasting rating — 4.8 points.
The tree is vigorous and fast-growing, forming a moderately dense, wide-rounded crown. Fruits are large, weighing 8 to 10 grams, heart-shaped with dark-red skin and juicy, slightly fibrous dark-red flesh. The flavor of the fruits is sour-sweet, making them especially attractive for fresh consumption.
The variety has high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, enabling successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. Resistance to diseases such as coccomyces and moniliosis is rated as medium. Debut is self-fertile and develops best on fertile soils. Seedlings of this variety are typically one year old and grown on mahaleb rootstock, which contributes to their good survival and growth.
