Cherry variety "Donetsk Cherry" is a medium-sized fruit tree with a round, dense crown of moderate density, reaching a height of 3.5 to 5 meters. The tree begins fruiting on the 4th-5th year after planting and is characterized by early fruiting and high cold resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -25°C. The crown is spreading, branches slightly droop, which facilitates good ventilation and illumination. For successful growth, it is recommended to plant the tree on fertile loamy or sandy loam soils with moderate watering, preferably in open sunny locations.
Fruits of the "Donetsk Cherry" variety have a round shape, slightly flattened on the sides, dark red or almost black color when fully ripe. The weight of the berries ranges from 6 to 9 grams, the flesh is dense, juicy, sweet and aromatic with a pleasant aftertaste. The skin has medium density, and the detachment from the pedicel is dry, which facilitates harvesting. Ripe fruits appear at the end of June to mid-July, allowing the berries to be used fresh or for processing.
The variety has high resistance to diseases and pests when properly and timely treated, ensuring stable immunity. Cherry is self-sterile, so for pollination, neighboring varieties such as Donchanka, Yellow Drogana, Yaroslavna, Donetsk Beauty, Valeriy Chkalov, Aelita, Valeria, Annushka, and Early Pink are required. The variety has high drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
