The Sinivayevskaya cherry is a medium-sized tree, 3.5 to 5 meters tall, with a spreading, pyramidal, or spherical crown of medium density. This variety was bred by A.I. Evstratov at the Institute of Pomology and is characterized by early fruiting, starting to bear fruit in the 5th year. Fruiting occurs annually on floral shoots and one-year-old growth, ensuring a stable and high yield — up to 50 kg per tree or 33 tons per hectare at 11 years of age.
The fruits of Sinivayevskaya cherry are round, large, weighing from 4.6 to 6.1 grams, with dark red or reddish-yellow coloration and firm, juicy flesh. The taste is sweet-sour, dessert-type; the flesh is fibrous and light pink or dark red, depending on the description, with a small oval or round pit that detaches easily.
The variety is medium-early, ripening in the first or second decade of June or from July 10 to 15, which allows the fruits to be used both for fresh consumption and processing.
The variety exhibits high winter hardiness, comparable to the Vladimir cherry, and resistance to major fungal diseases such as moniliosis and cockcomycosis. Despite some self-infertility, successful pollination is recommended by planting nearby varieties such as Chernyashnaya and Krymskaya. Sinivayevskaya cherry is suitable for cultivation in the Moscow region and further south, demonstrating good resistance to diseases and pests, making it an attractive choice for gardeners seeking high-quality and stable harvest.
