Lyudmila

The Lyudmila plum is a medium-sized tree about 4 meters high with a spreading and drooping canopy of medium density. This Chinese plum variety is distinguished by its stable yield and ease of cultivation, making it an attractive choice for gardeners. The tree begins to bear fruit in the fourth year after planting, providing a yield of about 132.8 centners per hectare. The variety is self-fertile but can be pollinated by other Chinese plum varieties or apricots, which promotes good fruiting.

Lyudmila plum fruits are of medium size, weighing from 15 to 18 grams, and have an oval-heart shape. The main fruit coloration is yellow, with an orange-red skin coloration that covers almost the entire fruit. The skin is thin, smooth, with a light waxy coating, easily separates from the flesh, which is convenient for fresh consumption or canning. The flesh is tender, yellow, with a pleasant sweet taste and a slight almond undertone.

The variety is characterized by good resistance to diseases and pests, as well as the ability to withstand unfavorable growing conditions. The fruits contain 13.3% dry matter, 8.7% sugar, 1.4% acid, as well as vitamins P and C in amounts of 0.56 mg% and 4.2 mg%, respectively. Thanks to its taste qualities, decorative appearance, and versatility of use, the Lyudmila plum is suitable for cultivation both in home conditions and in vegetable gardens.
