Cherries of the Dneprovka variety are medium-ripening fruit trees, developed in 1934 by breeder M.T. Oratovsky based on crossing the yellow Denisson and Zabule varieties. The tree is vigorous, fast-growing, forms a broad-pyramidal crown, is highly winter-hardy and resistant to moniliosis. The variety is well-adapted to various climatic conditions, including southern regions of Ukraine, and is characterized by high productivity with annual fruiting beginning from the 5th to 6th year after planting. Fruits ripen in the second decade of July, predominantly from the 10th to 20th of the month.
Fruits of Dneprovka have an oval or oval-egg shape, weighing from 5 to 7 grams, sometimes up to 8 grams. The skin is thin, elastic, tough, and shiny, dark red in color, easily removable from the fruit. The flesh is light red, semi-fibrous, juicy, and tender, with a harmonious balance of sweetness and pleasant acidity. The juice is light red, and the stone is medium-sized, round, and easily separates from the flesh, facilitating consumption. The taste evaluation is 4.5 points, confirming the high quality of the fruits.
The Dneprovka variety is versatile in application: the fruits are excellent for fresh consumption due to their flavor and juiciness, and are also used for producing high-quality compotes that retain stable color and transparency of the juice over a long period. The fruits contain a significant amount of dry matter (17.66%), sugars (13.44%), organic acids (0.53%), and vitamin C (4.18 mg per 100 g of fresh weight), making them nutritious and beneficial. The best pollinators for this variety are Vinca and Valeriy Chkalov, contributing to stable and abundant yields.
