Plum TOPFIRST

Adaptability and Field Performance

The 'Topfirst' plum variety demonstrates high plasticity, confirmed by its official registration across all agro-climatic zones of Ukraine: Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya. The medium-sized tree with a moderately dense canopy features a balanced growth habit, simplifying maintenance and pruning. The semi-erect position of annual shoots and moderate growth vigor promote excellent air circulation, which is critical for reducing disease pressure in the high-humidity conditions of Polissya.

Response to Stress Factors

The early ripening of 'Topfirst' allows it to escape peak summer droughts, completing the development of its 30–45 g fruits before extreme heat stress occurs. The sparse pubescence on young shoots and moderate leaf glossiness indicate good adaptation to intense solar radiation. In the Steppe zone, the variety shows stability provided basic irrigation is available, while in the Forest-Steppe, it demonstrates resilience to spring temperature fluctuations.

Agronomic Highlights

• Yield Potential: Abundant flowering (a high number of flowers per shoot) ensures strong yield potential.
• Versatility: Dark blue fruits with an intense waxy bloom are suitable for both the fresh market and all types of processing.
• Disease Resistance: Due to the moderate canopy density, the tree is less susceptible to fungal diseases common in dense orchards.

'Topfirst' is an ideal choice for growers seeking a reliable early harvest with predictable tree behavior, minimizing the risk of losses due to adverse weather conditions.
