Description Phiona
Phiona — an early hybrid carrot of the Kuroda type, designed for cultivation under various climatic conditions and on heavy soils. Harvesting begins on the 50th day after emergence, allowing for sale as bunches, while the main portion (about 70%) matures by day 75-80. The roots are conical, uniform, firm, and well-shaped, with a vibrant orange color and small core. They feature high flavor qualities — sweet taste and absence of green shoulders, indicating proper fruit formation and no greening.

The Phiona hybrid exhibits high adaptability to various growing conditions, including heat and stress factors, as well as resistance to cracking and diseases. This makes it a reliable choice for summer sowing. When sown at the end of July and harvested at the end of November, the roots can be stored for 5-7 months, allowing storage until April-May of the following year. High commercial yield, reaching up to 90%, makes this hybrid profitable for commercial cultivation and processing.

To prevent greening of the roots, which is associated with chlorophyll accumulation under stressful growing conditions, timely hilling and selection of resistant varieties — such as Phiona — are recommended. Due to these qualities, carrots are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
