Description NAMUR
NAMUR — a mid-early carrot hybrid of the Nantes variety, bred by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden. This variety is distinguished by its early maturity — approximately 100-105 days from germination to harvest, which allows starting harvest by the end of July when sown in May. The root vegetables are cylindrical with a blunt tip, up to 18 cm long and weighing from 70 to 180 grams, featuring an intense orange color both outside and inside. A small core and high flesh density ensure excellent taste qualities — the carrot is juicy and sweet, with a dry matter content of about 7% and carotene up to 17.3 mg per 100 g of raw product. The NAMUR hybrid is characterized by high yield — marketable productivity reaches 509-821 centners per hectare, while the output of marketable product is 80-95%. Dense and sturdy foliage, as well as non-fragile root vegetables, allow for mechanized harvest collection. Carrots are well suited for fresh consumption, freezing, winter storage, and sale in bunches. Thanks to high marketability and resistance to a complex of diseases, the variety retains its qualities during long-term storage and quick market realization. For successful cultivation, NAMUR is recommended to be sown at the end of April — beginning of May into moistened furrows at a depth of 1-1.5 cm with a distance between plants of 3-4 cm and interrow spacing of 20 cm. The soil should be light with a deep plough layer. Care requires regular weeding, interrow loosening, irrigation in dry weather, and protection against pests. With proper agronomy, thinning is not required. Harvest is conducted in dry weather before autumn frosts. NAMUR carrots have moderate resistance to black leg, which increases cultivation reliability in various regions.
