Description Mercurio
Mercurio F1 carrot is an early-maturing hybrid from the French selection company Clause, belonging to the Nantes type. The vegetation period is about 95 days, allowing for a full harvest in a short time. The roots have an elongated-conical shape with virtually no narrowing at the base, measuring 16 to 20 cm in length and weighing 120 to 170 g. The skin is smooth and thin, uniformly colored in rich orange, with a dense internal structure free of cavities and cracks. Flavor qualities are ensured by a high content of dry matter (11.4–12.1%) and sugars (up to 8.6%), giving the root a pleasant aroma and sweetness. Mercurio carrot is characterized by good cold resistance and can successfully grow on various soil types, except strongly acidic soils. The plant forms strong, healthy leaves suitable for organic farming. The roots are easy to wash due to their smooth surface and rounded tip, simplifying preparation for consumption and storage. The hybrid is recommended for fresh consumption and winter storage due to its standard firmness and good storability. The commercial yield of Mercurio carrot ranges from 282 to 412 centners per hectare, exceeding the yields of standard Nantes 4 and Losinoostrovskaya 13 varieties. The output of marketable product reaches 82–85%, making this variety profitable for commercial cultivation.
