Carrot Chantenay BB

Carrot variety Chantenay BB is a medium-early universal type of Chantenay, with a vegetation period of 90 to 120 days. The roots are conical, 13 to 16 cm long, with a smooth surface and rich orange flesh and skin color. The flesh is tender and juicy, and the core is of medium size. This variety is characterized by high yield and fruit quality, making it suitable for fresh consumption, long-term storage, and processing in the canning industry. Chantenay BB is well-suited for various applications: canning, freezing, slicing, and use as baby carrots in dense plantings. Thanks to its high resistance to bolting, the variety maintains the quality and shape of the roots throughout the growing period. The plant's leafy apparatus is dark green and well-developed, promoting good growth and fruit formation. For successful cultivation of Chantenay BB carrots, choose sunny areas with loose, fertile sandy loam or light clay soils with neutral or slightly acidic reaction. Best preceding crops are those that received organic fertilizers. Sow seeds directly into open ground using row or band planting methods with optimal row spacing. Under adequate watering or irrigation, it is preferable to grow on ridges, which ensures uniform, high-quality roots and facilitates harvest. During the vegetation period, regular cultivation, weeding, and fertilization are necessary to maintain plant health and maximize productivity.
