Cabbage Zefir

Reliable Mid-Season Cabbage Variety

The «Zefir» white cabbage, developed by the seed breeding company «Sedek», represents a classic mid-season choice for both home gardeners and small-scale farmers. The variety is the result of focused breeding work led by Sergey Dubinin and Anatoly Lukyanenko, ensuring a reliable genetic base optimized for consistent performance.

Key Characteristics and Market Positioning

The primary advantage of «Zefir» is its well-defined maturity window. With a vegetative period of 90–100 days from seedling transplanting, it fits perfectly into the summer-autumn production cycle. The variety is highly valued for its uniformity, with head weights typically ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 kg.

• Market Versatility: Due to its compact and dense head structure, «Zefir» is perfectly suited for the fresh market. Retailers prefer this size for its convenience and portion-friendly nature.
• Culinary Qualities: The leaves are tender yet hold their shape well, making the variety excellent for fresh salads and various culinary applications.
• Handling and Processing: While primarily intended for fresh consumption, the variety performs reliably in household processing and short-term storage settings.

Choosing «Zefir» from the Sedek portfolio is a strategic move for those seeking predictability in production. The breed's development process prioritized resilience to local temperature fluctuations, minimizing risks during inconsistent weather conditions. Its ability to maintain head quality and size makes it a staple for anyone requiring stable, marketable yields without excessive crop size variations.
