Cabbage Zevs

Technical Profile of the "Zeus" Hybrid

The "Zeus" white cabbage, developed by Sedek, is a mid-early hybrid engineered for rapid crop maturity, reaching technical readiness within 70-80 days after transplanting. The originators (Sedek, SDK-SEEDS, S.V. Dubinin, and I.N. Dubinina) focused on creating a balanced hybrid capable of meeting the demands of both the fresh produce market and the processing sector.

Morphology and Growth Cycle

The defining technical characteristic of "Zeus" is its high-density head formation, typically weighing between 1.0 and 2.0 kg. The rounded shape of the head is optimized for logistical efficiency and processing durability. Its deep green outer leaves provide high marketability for retail display.

• Maturity Period: Technical ripeness is achieved in 70-80 days, allowing for streamlined supply chain planning.
• Utility: The hybrid is highly versatile, maintaining excellent leaf structure for processing while remaining attractive for fresh retail.
• Planting Density: Recommended planting density is 40,000–50,000 plants per hectare. This spacing is critical for ensuring optimal ventilation and achieving consistent head size throughout the field.

Technically, "Zeus" is designed for producers who require a balance between early maturity and individual head weight. During the peak development phase, this hybrid benefits from precise nitrogen and phosphorus management to support the plant's potential to reach a 2 kg weight without compromising head integrity or density.
