Cabbage Bella

Technological Potential of the Bella Variety

The Bella white cabbage from the Sedek seed company is a breeding achievement focused on stabilizing market supply during the off-season. With a vegetation period of 90–100 days, this variety is classified as mid-season, allowing farmers to flexibly plan planting and harvest schedules based on regional climatic conditions.

Morphology and Head Physiology

The core feature of Bella lies in its head architecture. The rounded shape ensures optimal density distribution, which is critical for maintaining internal structural integrity. A head weight of 1.0–2.0 kg makes this variety ideal for retail, offering the format most demanded by consumers and optimized for logistics.

Storage Capacity: Why It Lasts Up to a Year

The primary technical argument for choosing Bella is its storage longevity. Genetic resistance to tissue degradation allows the heads to maintain their market quality for 10–12 months. This is achieved through:

• A high dry matter content, which lowers the risk of internal pathogenic microflora development.
• Tight leaf wrapping, creating a natural barrier against moisture evaporation.
• Stem resistance to rot, ensuring the integrity of the head throughout the winter storage cycle.

Selecting this variety is an investment in the ability to enter the fresh market in the spring, when demand for high-quality domestic vegetable produce peaks.
