The buckwheat variety Nadiyna is a medium-maturing, high-yielding variety developed by the Institute of Soil Science of NAAN of Ukraine and registered in 2014. This variety is characterized by ecological plasticity and is suitable for cultivation under various agroclimatic conditions, particularly in the Polissia region. The vegetation period lasts 82-84 days, enabling a stable harvest at optimal times.
The quality of the Nadiyna variety’s grain is highly valued: the 1000-grain weight reaches 28-29 grams, and the grain uniformity is 86-92%. The extraction rate of groats from the grain is 77-78%, making this variety attractive for processing and consumption. Additionally, Nadiyna exhibits high resistance to lodging and shattering, which helps preserve the harvest and reduces losses during harvesting.
Although research on buckwheat yields in the southern zone of the forest-steppe of Ukraine indicates that the most productive varieties are Olga, Yelena, and Sofiya, the Nadiyna variety is recommended for cultivation in Polissia due to its adaptive properties and stable yield. This makes it a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain a high-quality, ecologically sustainable product.
