Ruslana buckwheat variety is a mid-season type with a vegetation period of 85-90 days, developed by the Podolsk Agricultural and Technical University and registered in 2014. This variety is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe regions of Ukraine, confirming its adaptability to various climatic conditions. Plant height reaches 95 cm, ensuring good resistance to lodging, rated at 9 points, as well as high drought tolerance at the same level.
Ruslana is characterized by a high grain yield — up to 85%, with protein content around 15%, making it attractive for producing high-quality buckwheat products. The seeds are large, colored from light brown to dark brown, and the variety is characterized by excellent bee pollination, contributing to stable yields. The potential yield of this variety reaches 40 centners per hectare, with average yields of 20-25 centners per hectare.
The cultivation technology for the Ruslana variety is standard and well-suited for mechanized harvest. Recommended sowing dates are from the end of April to the second decade of May. Sowing rates are 90-100 kg/ha for narrow-row and 60-70 kg/ha for wide-row planting methods. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, the Ruslana variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality and high-yield products.
