Slobozhanka buckwheat is a medium-maturing hybrid with a vegetation period of 80 to 90 days. The plant reaches a height of 95 to 105 cm, characterized by good leafiness and branching. Buds and flowers have a pale-pink hue, and the fruits are winged, ranging in color from light to dark brown. The thousand-seed mass is approximately 28-28.4 g, indicating uniform grain maturity. Protein content in the seeds reaches 16-17%, and the hull content is about 19.8%, ensuring high grain quality and good taste characteristics of porridge. The Slobozhanka variety is distinguished by high yield and resistance to adverse conditions. It exhibits drought, shattering, and lodging resistance, as well as good disease resistance. The yield potential ranges from 29 to 45 centners per hectare, with average yields varying between 20-25 centners per hectare. High flour yield — 74 to 77% — makes this variety especially attractive for cultivation. Due to these characteristics, the variety is recommended for intensive cultivation technologies and is suitable for direct combine harvesting. Slobozhanka buckwheat is successfully grown in various climatic zones, including the steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia regions of Ukraine. Recommended sowing rates range from 2.0 to 4.0 million seeds per hectare depending on the sowing method. The variety has been recommended for cultivation since 2004 and remains valuable due to the combination of high productivity, grain quality, and adaptability to growing conditions.
