The 'Duke120' variety, registered in 2013 by 'Dolyna-Agro', is a breeding solution adapted to the climatic realities of the Polissya and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. Unlike many high-bush varieties, this low-growing shrub (up to 0.5 m) demonstrates exceptional resistance to environmental stressors. Its ability to withstand low winter temperatures makes it a reliable choice for regions with harsh winters where other blueberry varieties might suffer from frost damage.

The plant exhibits strong growth vigor and an upright growth habit, which minimizes the risk of lodging even during heavy harvests. Due to early bud break and flowering times, 'Duke120' manages to develop its berries before the onset of peak summer droughts, which is critical for maintaining the marketability of the fruit.

Performance in Intensive Cultivation

One of the key features of this variety is its low requirement for soil conditions. While blueberries are traditionally demanding regarding substrate, 'Duke120' shows stable productivity across various soil types characteristic of its growing zones. Fruiting occurs primarily on the previous year's growth, allowing farmers to accurately forecast yields and plan pruning schedules.

• Disease Resistance: The dense skin and heavy waxy bloom on the berries provide natural protection against fungal infections during the ripening period.
• Stress Response: Early ripening allows the plant to avoid the impact of extreme July temperatures, reducing the need for intensive irrigation during the final stages of berry development.
• Marketability: The large berry (0.7–1.0 g) with a firm structure handles transportation exceptionally well while maintaining a dessert-like flavor and balanced acidity.

To achieve maximum performance, it is recommended to follow a planting scheme of 1.0–1.2 m between bushes, ensuring optimal ventilation and light exposure, which prevents pathogen development in dense plantings.
