Description Oktava
Oktava bean is an early-maturing asparagus bean variety that reaches technical maturity as soon as 45-60 days after sowing. The plants are bush-type, ranging from 35 to 60 cm in height, with a powerful root system and medium-foliage green wrinkled leaves. Pods are straight or slightly curved, 12-17 cm long and about 1.4 cm wide, with an elliptical cross-section; they contain no parchment layer or fibers, making them particularly valuable for fresh consumption and canning.

The variety is distinguished by high yield – up to 2.8 kg per square meter, as well as resistance to diseases such as anthracnose and bacterial infection. Lower beans attach at a height of about 12 cm from the ground, and the pod tip has a blunt shape with a short beak. Thanks to these characteristics, Oktava bean is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses.

The bean is recommended for use in cooking and for freezing, which allows preserving its taste qualities and nutritional value. Sowing is carried out at the end of May – beginning of June at a depth of about 3 cm with rows 10x50 cm wide, which ensures optimal conditions for growth and fruiting. The long fruiting period of the variety allows obtaining a stable yield throughout the season.
