TURCHANKA

Turchanka beans are a mid-season asparagus variety with a maturation period of about 55-60 days. The climbing plant reaches a height of up to 3 meters, allowing it to be used not only for harvesting but also for decorative greening. The leaves are light green, while the pods are light green, straight, pointed, about 20 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide. The beans are flat, slightly curved, without a parchment layer or fibers, making them particularly convenient for culinary use. Sowing Turchanka beans is recommended in open ground at the end of May - beginning of June to a depth of 3-5 cm using a planting scheme of 10x50 cm. Soaking the seeds in warm water for 24 hours beforehand is beneficial for improving germination. The plant is characterized by high yield - from 4 to 5 kg per square meter with proper care, especially when grown under film cover with tying. The height of attachment of lower pods is about 12 cm, which facilitates harvesting. The Turchanka variety is valued for its unpretentiousness and resistance to such diseases as anthracnose and bacteriosis. Due to the absence of hard fibers and a parchment layer, the beans are suitable for preparing various dishes and retain their qualities well when frozen. Moreover, the beans have high decorative qualities, which allows them to be used for vertical greening, creating shady corners in the garden, as well as for decorating fences and gazebos.
