Delphinium Excalibur is an improved variety of a tall plant, distinguished by long and abundant flowering already in the year of sowing. The plant is compact, well-branched, and forms sturdy stems with large semi-double flowers of various shades, including lilac-pink with a white eye and light blue with a contrasting light center. Bush height reaches 60-80 cm, while spread width is 15-25 cm, making it attractive for group plantings and creating high-quality cuttings.
For successful cultivation of Delphinium Excalibur, it is recommended to choose open, sunny places protected from wind and without water stagnation. Seed sowing is carried out in a greenhouse in March with mandatory stratification to obtain uniform germination. Seeds are slightly covered with soil; at 12-15 °C, seedlings appear within 10-15 days. Seedlings are pricked out at the stage of 1-2 true leaves and transplanted to a permanent location after the threat of frost. Direct sowing of seeds into open ground in April-May or under winter is also possible.
Delphinium Excalibur is versatile in application: it can be grown in containers and pots, used to decorate flower beds, borders, gardens, and front gardens. It blends perfectly with roses, lilies, dahlias, geraniums, phloxes, and sage, creating striking floral compositions. Thanks to its decorativeness and resilience, the variety is popular among gardeners and florists.
