Faiza bean — a medium-early variety of green bean, Dutch selection from the company Rijk Zwaan, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. The vegetation period is about 60 days. The climbing plant has long and strong stems, abundantly covered with leaves, forming a large number of uniform, flat pods of dark green color, 22–25 cm long. The pods are fleshy, without tough fibers, which ensures ease of preparation and a pleasant, rich flavor, highly appreciated by consumers. The variety is characterized by high marketability, uniformity of product, and good keeping quality after harvest.
Faiza bean is characterized by stress resistance and tolerance to bean mosaic virus, making it low-maintenance and adaptable to various agronomic practices. The seeds germinate quickly and uniformly, and the crop is evenly set and easily harvested. Due to these qualities, the variety is suitable for fresh market sales, as well as for freezing, canning, and processing. The bean retains its nutritional properties after heat treatment, expanding its culinary applications.
Growing Faiza bean requires following certain agronomic practices. Sowing is recommended after the last frost at a temperature of 20–25 °C. Climbing plants require support, to which shoots are tied after emergence. Regular evening watering at the root level is important, as water deficiency slows growth and causes fruit deformation. Rows should be regularly weeded and loosened, and mulching is recommended for easier care. When the plants reach a height of 2–2.5 m, shoot tips should be pinched to stimulate fruiting. Good companion plants for beans are cucumbers, pumpkin, and eggplants.
